Eleven years after saluting the Alco Black Beast, Josef Newgarden won the 2023 Indy 500 Race-Congrats!
On May 25, 2012, the Alco Black Beast participated in the Community Day event prior to the 2012 Indy 500 at Indianapolis. Among the 150 people who sat in the Beast that day was rookie driver Josef Newgarden. Two days ago, Newgarden won the Indy 500. Congrats!

Driver Josef Newgarden enjoying the Beast. 21-year old Newgarden was the fastest qualifying rookie for this year's Indy 500 (averaging 224.037 mph) and started in Row 3 .
Newgarden was introduced to the Black Beast by Mark Dill, then vice president of marketing for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
